Apart from its unique architecture, it is its size that ..matters!

As one may see it consists of huge constructions that are under continuous construction and reconstruction as vast amount of money arrive from the motherland. President Putin himself shows enormous interest on the H.Monasteries with russian roots and visited the area a couple of times the last years.

Another interesting fact is that this H.Monastery used to occupy more than a thousand monks at the beginning of the 20th century while the number of monks at Mount Athos today is just above this figure.
